Status Report: Conditions Unknown

I found an interesting quote today from Neil DeGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist and host of the Cosmos TV series:
"One of our mantras in science is that the absence of evidence is not the same as evidence of absence.Cited in CHRISTOPHER CHABRIS and DANIEL SIMONSDEC. 1, 2014 Why Our Memory Fails Us. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/02/opinion/why-our-memory-fails-us.html?emc=edit_th_20141202&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=32962000&_r=0
Absence of evidence can be deliberately cultivated. What we see with the Japanese, Canadian, and US Governments is evidence of 'absence of inquiry' concerning the extent of atmospheric and ocean fallout from the Fukushima disaster.

A primary illustration of absence of evidence can be found in months of missing data from the EPA RadNet System. For example:

This chart is not anomalous, which is unforgivable because the EPA's own Inspector General faulted the RadNet monitoring system for failing to activate, with clean filters, during the Fukushima disaster. Gina McCarthy, who was the EPA administrator overseeing RadNet, failed to do her job, but despite being sanctioned by the Inspector General, McCarthy was nominated by Obama and approved to run the entire EPA agency: Gina McCarthy and the Failed RadNet System

There has been a conspiracy of silence around Fukushima and every other nuclear disaster, such as Hanford WA, that humanity has wrought upon the Earth (see here for discussion).

I'm getting pretty fed up because both private and public radiation air monitoring sites that are up and running are detecting elevated radiation levels in Japan and the US. Levels are of concern and haven't been this high since Nov 2011 to Jan 2012. Japanese scientists verified that Nov 2011 period initiated a notable spike in radiation levels (see here for discussion). Now we are again encountering atypically high radiation levels again.

I've also noted a sharp decrease in insect life that I cannot attribute solely to the changing season. Butterflies and mosquitoes had made a relatively significant comeback in Phoenix (although not beetles) after our massive September rains this fall. I am outside everyday and the insect population along my 3 and 6 mile hikes have disappeared almost entirely. Our temperatures have been in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit with night time lows in 50s, with a dip down to a Nov low of 45. I attribute fallout as playing a potential role in the insect demise. Phoenix has had very high radiation levels over the last month.

CONDITIONS UNKNOWN
I don't know whether the fiasco at WIPP is bringing plutonium and other radionuclides westward toward Phoenix or whether Diablo Canyon and Palo Verde nuclear power plants are refueling and therefore emitting very high counts of radionuclides, such as radiocesium. I don't know whether Fukushima is to blame.

The site I rely on for the Fukushima Daiichi cam links - Fukushima Facts - is not loading today. I don't have the link for the TEPCO cam 1 but the view on TEPCO cam 4 looks relatively clear. However, the Futaba cam view today is very pixilated, unusually so. The TBS cam has been down for days and was looking very pixilated before it went down.

Netc.com shows elevated radiation readings in monitors near Fukushima and north of the plant.
Radiation levels have been very high in Japan for the last week or so.

I don't know what is happening, but I do know that there is EVIDENCE OF RISING RADIATION LEVELS in Japan and the US and there has been WEBCAM EVIDENCE OF RISING EMISSIONS AT FUKUSHIMA over the month of November.

There is EVIDENCE OF EFFORTS TO IMPEDE DATA COLLECTION by governments failing to adequately monitor and report on atmospheric and ocean contamination and by directly censoring data, as illustrated by the missing RadNet data and disruptions with the TBS cam feed.

ABSENCE OF EVIDENCE of government monitoring and suggestive evidence of censorship together belie government efforts in Japan and the US to protect human health.

  1. Fukushima Facts up now and emissions look low but Netc is showing elevated radiation levels all over northern Japan

  2. I like hearing firsthand accounts of what other people are noticing in their environment since Fukushima. I 'second the comment' of the person on Enenews who said they've not seen "love bugs" in Florida for a few years. Haven't seen them south of Tampa for a few years either and everything just seems "off" such as the air never smells clean anymore; everyone seems tired and anxious; hair loss; no wasps visiting their normal area by us; less little lizards; extreme heat 2011-2013--this was the first year we've had cool air; I got nosebleeds beginning of 2013; etc etc etc

  3. I like to ask myself what would the Mafia do or any other well run criminal organization. Usually it is also what the Federal Government does. If there is a major Congressional investigation witnesses start dying accidental deaths or from suicide. Gina McCarthy was given a promotion because she proved she could be trusted. That is what doing a good job amounts to. Like the Mafia the government answers to no one and settles disputes with arrests and prison or a neat assassination. Anyway Gina is an air quality expert, so she KNOWS and we do not. QED

  4. Today we hear that one of Ukraine's nuclear power plants is having trouble. As this nation gets more desperate they may decide to hold Europe hostage by either sabotaging a plant or threatening to do so. Some time ago they were thinking about using the wrong kind of rods--I believe one of the Eastern European nations had already discovered that they did not work properly. Desperate people often take desperate means to achieve their ends. With the onset of winter there and uncertainties of gas the Ukraine could become a very serious nuclear problem. How many more serious nuclear accidents will it take before people wake up?
