Ongoing Problems with Ukraine's Zaporozhiya Nuclear Power Plant

Yahoo is reporting that "Ukraine shuts down faulty nuclear power plant reactor" December 28, 2014:

I am very concerned about the Ukrainian reactor. There is almost no news about the latest shutdown and the stories that I can find simply report the basic fact of the shutdown (due to some unexplained electrical problem) and provide no other information (e.g., see http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/12/28/ukraine-nuclear-plant-offline_n_6386690.html).

Recall that problems were first reported with the Ukrainian reactor December 3.  At that time, CNN published the "emergency repair" phrase in quotation marks:

'Emergency repair' reported at Ukraine nuclear power plant

On December 5th I noted at my blog that there was a complete media blackout on information on this plant. The blackout was highly unusual and reminds me strongly of the dearth of Ebola stories after the "Ebola Czar" took control of the media on that issue:
http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2014/12/media-blackout-on-ukraine-nuclear-plant.html

I explained in my Dec 5 blogpost that RT reported problems at the plant derived from the use of fuel designed for western reactors in the plant, which was designed to run on Soviet fuel.

I strongly recommend reading this blog post, which examines emails between plant officials purportedly hacked by Ukrainian hackers:
https://allegedlyapparent.wordpress.com/2014/12/26/ukrainian-hackers-claim-zaporizhia-nuclear-accident-communications-mentioning-radiation-leak-warn-of-second-chernobyl-%D0%BD%D0%B5-%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%B8-%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BD/

It is possible that the problems at Zaporozhiya are far worse than has been reported.

I have been wondering whether the Netc system has been hacked because radiation readings have dropped so precipitously over the last week or so.

I'm hoping winter precipitation stripped the radionuclides from the air but I am not so sure about that….

Can you imagine a scenario where earth becomes too radioactive to sustain complex life because of repeated nuclear accidents? I can. I can also imagine that not a word of the truth would be breathed to the great unwashed masses (that is, you and me).
