Thick Emissions at Fukushima Daiichi and Alarming Facts about Japan's Nuclear Disaster

The emissions have been quite thick recently. It is difficult to determine all of the sources. TEPCO cam 1 view indicates emissions from unit 2 and, more prolifically, units 3 and/or 4.

The seeming "thickness" of the emissions can be discerned by the distortion of the crane behind the main flow visible below in screenshots from 2/22 at 1:24 AM and 2/22 2:51 AM

When I view TEPCO cam 4 I see emissions from the area of unit 3 (mostly registering as heat distortions and coloration rather than steam). I also see steamier-looking and often yellow-tinged emissions from the common spent fuel pool area.

The Futaba cam view typically shows high illumination of the Daiichi site at the same time that emissions are highest.

Why would higher emissions light up the sky over the site?

There are so many unanswered questions but some facts are clear:

1. Melted fuel at Fukushima Daiichi has not been contained and it continues to spew radioactive contaminants into the atmosphere and Pacific Ocean daily

2. Earthquakes continue to shake North East Japan where Fukushima and many other damaged nuclear plants are located, including the nuclear village of Tokai

3. US nuclear plants are equally vulnerable to earthquakes and design flaws

4. There is an increase in thyroid cancer in children in Fukushima Prefecture and also in California, according to news reports

5. The incidence of mass mortality events among Pacific North American mammals - especially sea lions but also seals, walruses, Orcas, and polar bears - has increased, as numerous media reports and NOAA incident reports demonstrate.

6. The Arctic, Pacific, and Atlantic Ocean (perhaps them all) have been dumping grounds for genotoxins for decades, if not longer, and climate change has produced additional vulnerabilities

7. Government exposure protocols are based on limited modeling (Working on that research project right now but I'm hardly the first to point out that EPA only "adequately" protects us from radionuclides, is subordinate to the authority of the NRC where the nuclear fuel cycle is involved, and relies on risk-models that predict increased cancer rates based on single exposures so that the risk of an exposure for cesium-137 presumes no previous exposure and no presence of additional radionuclides in the environment)

These facts alone should raise public concern....

  1. The whole nuclear situation brings to mind the novels of Doris Lessing, especial the science fiction series. They might better be called future realism. Planets can be seriously damaged and even mostly die. But since radioactive material is so quiet and cat like it can slink around unnoticed. In this instance we are the carefree mice upon which it lunges. The USA might have recovered from WWII had it not been for the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. Somehow the psychological effect was to greatly diminish the presence of rationality and logic. It has infected science to the point where scientists can hardly be trusted. Instead of dwelling excessively on the weather and climate the energy ought to have been directed at radioactive debris. Now it looks like crying wolf for profit. It is very simple. A few more plants break down; and then a few more and a few more and nowhere to put the waste and finally the planet is so contaminated that cancer is rife . . . and all the other nasty consequences. What will they say? Allergies? I think that is where we are headed. Now I do not know about ET's and the possibility of very advanced technology coming to the rescue. Certainly possible. But we can not count on that. And maybe they would say but we like having the planet cleared for our purposes. Or simply, too bad; you should have been more careful.

  4. his channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/fuku1live/videos, has not worked since 2/15 and the ustream.tv channel is just opaque grey...nothing. Is there another channel? Did they shut down everything after the earthquake?
