Enenews and the Webcam Discussion Forums

The webcam discussion forums provide the only public online forum I’m aware of for discussing plant conditions at Fukushima Daiichi.

Webcam watchers have been observing the cams and documenting their observations on the Fukushima webcam discussion forums for over 4 years.

They have also been posting screenshots and video that illustrate their descriptive accounts.

Their comments and supporting documentary screenshots and videos have chronicled ongoing atmospheric conditions at Daiichi and have linked observations with data and events reported by TEPCO and the media.

When the main webcam discussion forum was disrupted, webcam watchers selected another forum for their documentation.

Now that forum is also disrupted and will not allow comments to be posted. This disruption occurred after what is widely believed by webcam watchers to be a denial of service attack that occurred Sunday August 3.

Was the disruption of the webcam watchers’ documentation deliberate or is the Enenews site simply too unwieldy after 4 years of accumulating comments?

I don’t know the answer to this question but in my time advocating on behalf of Fukushima victims, I have seen quite a bit of subterfuge and outright censorship of comments on other websites, particularly mainstream news sites.

Plant conditions haven’t looked good all summer and TEPCO is now reportedly grappling with unit 3, trying to remove heavy equipment that fell into unit 3’s pool, a pool that it is hard to believe has much left intact within it after the explosion that rocked that unit in March 2011.

Is it coincidence that the webcam discussion forum is down, or not?

I don’t know the answer to this question but if the answer is “no coincidence” then I expect there is a reason and that reason is that ‘the powers that be’ no longer will tolerate free discussion and dissemination of webcam watchers’ observations.

  2. I began an "AMA" (ask me anything) at Reddit recently and I think it may behoove the core group to move into a niche there. It has dedicated moderators and strict rules about bad behavior and on average there are 90-120 people viewing my thread... I think Reddit is a good solution for dialog at least. See https://www.reddit.com/r/AMA/comments/3f6lgf/iama_fukushima_nuclear_news_follower_messenger/

  3. so, for example - at https://www.reddit.com/r/iama - Enenewsers could set up a thread for webcam viewing reports; another thread for radiation readings; another thread for engineering reports; etc etc - and - those who get comfortable with it may wish to set up an AMA to let the public explore the issues by questioning on specific topic(s).

What I appreciate about Reddit - quick to learn and a lot of sincerely interested folks watching/asking on-point questions. None of that funny troll stuff there.

  4. The weekend of August 1st, Enenews had an outage, when it came back Monday, the burning debris forum that webcam watchers had been using was archived, no comments. We tried to move to the alternative energy forum. A day later that forum was archived. Archiving the alternative energy forum a day after the outage that archived 4 forums, a day after webcam watchers moved there, seems a deliberate censorship. Admin continues to post new stories, but now there is only a broken webcam forum left to post observations on. Must be the way admin wants things. Is this evidence that Enenews might be controlled opposition?

Proof of increasing gamma radiation at the site as evidenced by increased gamma sparking on the webcams while workers are dying must come close to violating the ‘no one has ever died of Fukushima radiation’ myth.

  5. Reddit responded:

    "Hey

Creating a subreddit would be a good start. It can be used for information people and discussions.

Coupled with a subreddit they could use https://www.reddit.com/live.

This way to could stay on top of things 24/7.

It may be that I have enough required "Karma" to create a subreddit noted in the "how do I" url just above, or maybe someone else here does?
If you all want me to create the subreddit, I'd be glad to help; please give me your profile & activity "guide/guidance/rules" and "mission" – Stock has my email."

  7. From Horse, I have taken Obvious advice and might be expanding into reddit, user HorseCam. Stock has my email address and could forward contact info.
@majia, could you provide some input on the creation of a fuku webcam forum on reddit? Should I just drop the gamma spark observations? Should I try to keep on at enenews? What do you think is going on with the administration of enenews?

    1. I strongly believe we need to keep up the webcam discussion. Someone thinks our discussion is so important that it requires censorship.

Please do keep up all observations, including gamma spark counts.

I'm ok with alternative forums and will participate if easy.

  8. Hi! Thank you for keeping your blog going (theres probably many others who also want to thank you but are forced to remain silent, so have a thousand thank you's!)

What if we've got the facts right, but we've made a couple of bad assumptions in interpreting them?

what if the georgia guidestones weren't a culling target? what if the obbjective was to do whatever it takes to ensure that, no matter what happens, at least 500 million people survive?

what if those that know better than us have already run the numbers, and as horific as it seems, the best chance for maximum survival is a gradual managed descent/adjustment into radiation, rather than a few hundred nuke plants exploding within a few years?

what if there's a reason god created psychopaths? a mother will sacrifice everything, irrationallly, to ensure the survival of their own child. maybe I need to better understand its not bad that we have psychopaths, its because we do sometimes hit moments whhen someone needs to sacrifice their own mother or daughter so that a bunch of the rest of us can go on.

i don't know. its all so confusing. stirs up uncomfortable thoughts involving notions like "love thy enemy". it might expplain though why the cams keep running or why enenews somehow manages to keep on going even though its obvious that site admin have lost interest in it.

i kind of understand this though - it doesn't matter. if that is all true then thee best couse of action is to keep on doing what i'm already doing (though now maybe armed wwith a little more coourage) - to keep spreading word off what is coming/hhas come and how best to go on living with this in mind.

you walk the way of the peaceful warrior, and that by definition makes you a peaceful warrior! thank you for being part of the "-1%", you are one of those few amongst us who are ready/willing/able to stand up, stick your head out on behalf of the rest of us. we give each other strength - we lurk ready to support you when needed while you speak for us, they know there's a thousand invisible silent us's for each one of us that boldly speaks up so they know its futile to try to silence you.

  9. ps (off topic) want to see something wierd? do a google image search for "burning bush", then do a google image search for "nuclear explosion". trippy, hey? (i'm not christian btw, i'm just over-curious). so, i read up on "burning bush" in wikipedia, which said it happened in some place called the sinai peninsula. so I did a regular google search for "sinai peninsula ancient nuclear explosion". is it just me, or is that all just a little bit "wow"?
