LDP Calls for Action Against "Biased" Teachers

Yesterday I posted news that Erdogan is targeting academics in Turkey:

http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2016/07/erdogan-targets-intelligentsia.html

Today I read that the LDP in Japan is "calling for ministry action against 'biased' teachers" who violate "political neutrality."

The government website defining violations of neutrality is very vague about what actually constitutes a violation, although the examples provided in the news report focus on criticism of the LDP's security legislation that would allow expanded Japanese support of allies' overseas missions:
LDP calling for ministry action against ‘biased’ teachers. THE ASAHI SHIMBUNJuly 20, 2016 http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/AJ201607200034.html

Yet the website section itself created confusion over what specifically constitutes a violation of political neutrality. When the report form section was first posted, an initial statement said, “There are teachers who conduct education that deviates from neutrality by arguing, ‘Do not send our children to war zones.’” However, that supposedly biased quote was later changed to: “The national security laws should be abolished.” But even that quote was quickly deleted.
I always find it interesting to examine allegations of bias in the classroom.

All information is positioned from a point of view. No information is entirely neutral. Hence, designations of "bias" reveal much about the norms and politics of truth-telling under current regimes of power.

We clearly now live in an epoch when the norms of truth-telling are increasingly policed with escalating punishments for those who do not conform to hegemonic regimes.

  1. Some "agents" have tried to "catch" US instructors in "bias" as well. If Trump wins, bet on this global cancer to rise it's ugly head more in US edu.

    1. I notice Trump's children have all received excellent educations; and I would imagine he would like to see all young people have the same. If you substitute Hilary for Trump then I would agree.

  2. The bias will reflect the Ruling Class. I think it best for local school boards to determine curriculum, texts, etc. There can be state and Federal guidelines but these should for the most part be voluntary. This way teachers can select the area they feel most comfortable in and relate best to parents. Between students and their parents, teachers and local school boards good schools are really possible.
Note: for not the first time Trump seems quite prescient and emphasized safety in his convention speech and now the latest violence in Germany! I suspect business persons develop this 6th sense in order to survive business cycles.

  3. Trump is the ruling class. Political pandering really not appropriate now. She was talking about the LDP in Japan.Unndortanately both of our candidates share the same backers and views of the neolib, neocon Abe and the ldp. Seems like a lot of western politicians are of the same ilk. Too bad. This is a Weimar time in world history, or worse in world history. That is especially true with all the nukes and nuclear pollution. Very sad, reality wise

    1. Well, you are guessing. You might be right but it seems to me and has for some time that Trump is closer to the old Liberals of years ago than Hilary and certainly Kaine her VP pick. In fact Bernie supporters might do worse than to vote for Trump. If Hilary gets in it will be nuclear power and TPP and the like.

  4. I'm not a liberal. Its OK William I guess. You can vote for who ya want in this country. Sort of. I feel very left out. I wish someone would gaurentee nuclear power stopping.

I do not really know if sanders would do it. I feel these two are gonna do the same old. My kids are not in a good situation. If there were changes in lifestyles here it would be good for everyone.

I am torn. Maybe this country should be more regionalized. I do not like empires. It would be easier to clean-up the nuclear mess that way, if people put their minds to it.

I think the world balance-of -power crud is a lot on nonsense drawn up by generals and oligarchs.

I feel trapped in the middle. It seems that nothing has changed much for a long time. I always end up feeling like Linus and the Great Pumpkin. I feel very bad for the people in Japan.

  5. Well, we know Obama likes nuclear power and considers it clean. Hilary will follow his path. Trump in his speech talked about miners going back to work. The means coal. Whatever coal's sins it might just be possible to do something about them. I think Bernie lacked the personal power necessary to take charge and make the changes he desired for the nation. We are at a point where we can not be too choosy. Just having a dove for president or at least not a hawk is a first good start. Trump is a classical liberal whereas Hilary is a tried and tested oligarch or plutocrat. Bernie some kind of socialist? This election is about the 99%--can they avoid being fooled into supporting the Establishment? If your children are healthy that is a good thing. I am willing to assume that Trump is sincere. There is no question of his ability to get things done. So I want to give him a chance. He is not a globalist. I think his children are playing a major role in determining his objectives; he will not want to let them and their children down. Hilary is tangled in her own web and can not get free.

  6. I do not believe that. Liberal is archaic. You speak double think propaganda. Are you a political agent William or cointelpro officer? Sounds like it. Agents like you are used by Putin too to keep deception and political confusion going. There is an excellent article in sputnik about you, trump, Hillary and your ilk. You use propaganda like tptb and the elite to confuse people. I know that is what Chris hedges would say

This is excellent and reminds one of what a Clinton promise is worth. Valuable guide to what a Clinton presidency would mean. For example, how the Clintons assisted India with its nuclear ambitions.
Liberal or at least Classical Liberal is not archaic. Freedom and liberty never go out of style. My aim in writing comments is to communicate what I believe to be the case.

  10. Screw off shill. rense doesn't even have a Fukushima header anymore. Just protrump propaganda and pictures of David duke as our savior. You are a sppok. William st George was a new england painter. A person on another website is a retired librarian from the eastern slope in colorado , as you claim to be. Its like a well- oiled political juggernaut of hate, consumption, wall street stink, protofascism , ignorance of the nuclear industry and military complex. trump is so much like abe and the LDP its pathetic. What sad tines we live in. Phoney money can buy anything in this day and age. Orwellian doublethink, media mind-control. Hate nuclear death.

  11. Trump and his supporters are not civil. You make me laugh! Ha ha. Neither are Hillary and her supporters. Criminals, sociopaths, hucksters, and frauds. All very shallow, greedy people.
